3-STAGE STERILISED SILVER IMPREGNATED CERAMIC FILTER

The ULTRA 1 Single Filter Chamber contains sterilised silver in a 3-stage Sterilised Silver Impregnated Ceramic Filter which is a specially formulated self-sterilising (bacteriostatic) agent. PATENTED KDF® 55 PROCESS

KDF® 55 Process Medium granules ate widely used in pre treatment, primary treatment, and waste water treatment applications. It is most effective in removing chlorine and water-soluble heavy metals and consists of high-purity copper-zinc granules to dramatically extend the effectiveness of the filter system, control heavy metals and microorganisms and minimise filter maintenance. This unique Process Medium works through the oxidation and reduction of ions, known as redox. This redox process works by exchanging electrons with the contaminants. This resulting exchange of electrons converts many harmful contaminants into harmless components, such as chlorine to chloride. Other contaminants, including heavy metals are reduced or virtually eliminated.

Patented KDF® 55 Process Medium controls microorganisms in two ways. The first is through the by-product of the redox process - the exchange of electrons sets up an electrolytic field in which most microorganisms can't survive. The second involves the process of forming hydroxyl radicals and peroxides from the water molecules which interferes with the ability of the microorganisms to function and survive.

SILVER IMPREGNATED GRANULATED HIGH ACTIVATED CARBON

Carbon is an extremely porous material that attracts and holds a wide range of harmful contaminants. Activated carbon is carbon which has a slight elcciro-positivc charge added to it, making it even more attractive to chemicals and impurities. As the water passes over the positively charged carbon surface, the negative ions of the contaminants are drawn to the surface of the carbon granules. There are two principal mechanisms by which the Silver Impregnated Granulated High Activated Carbon removes contaminants from water - by adsorption and catalytic reduction. Catalytic Reduction is a process involving the attraction of negatively'charged contaminant ions to the positively' charged activated carbon. The presence of organic compounds arc removed by adsorption while residual disinfectants such as chlorine and chloramines are removed by catalytic reduction.The silver impregnation removes any bacteria in the water as silver is highly effective against more than 650 types of bacteria and viruses.
